But Bob, the biggest brother, doesn't have to use his brains to foil the T-Rex. We had been reading the Paul Galdone picture book in class a lot. A reimagined version of the tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff featuring a family of triceratops! The words telling part of the story and the pictures telling another part. Three triceratops brothers need to cross into a valley to find food, but there is a t-rex guarding the way. This sparked panic and inspiration. I decided to focus on the combination of words and pictures, and how they relate to each other in picture books. Stephen now works as a children's book author and illustrator, and as an early childhood educator at the Seward Child Care Center, where his musical talents have brought him rock star status among the children at the center.

Where did the idea come from for the book? Three Triceratops brothers by the name of Tuff are on a mission to find some grub. Stanley and Rufus use their smarts to persuade the dinosaur to let them pass since they promise their brother will provide a much larger meal. Megan teams up with the super fun and supportive Media Specialist, Sherron Gaughan. Shaskan's dinos are delightfully individualized. This is a fun play on a classic story. Of course there are the numerous retellings of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. And then ending, well, maybe not everyone will be a fan of the physical way triceratops got rid of T. It is also a retelling of a classic folk tale. I continue to use this presentation at different schools. Unfortunately, a T-Rex stands in their way. These events played heavily into the development of the final story. I gave examples of the text in my own work and then showed the pictures that went with the text.
Two weeks after, I was invited back for a Family Night Presentation at Cornelia. I had to really think about how I approach illustration, how that approach relates globally, and how I can teach this to Kindergarteners in 30 minutes.
